2020 - 2021
Completed Project Highlights
The Valley CARE Coalition has been hard at work - check out some of our completed projects below!
Find our completed mini behavioral health resource guides and the 2021 Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce Resource guide on the Resources page.
In December of 2020 and January of 2021 we created Community Pen Pals to reduce isolation during the tougher months of the pandemic. We connected Valley County young adults and youth with seniors via some good old fashioned letter writing! Over 30 pen pal pairs were connected over the month of January and lot's of community efforts made.
Thank you to everyone that participated!
In November 2020 we organized a Narcan training with Director of EMS, Master Trainer, and coalition member, Connie Wethern, to certify or recertify law enforcement officers in Glasgow and Valley County. Narcan is a lifesaving drug that can reduce opioid overdoses. Knowing how and when to use this critical tool is increasingly important as opioid overdoses and deaths rise in Valley County and across the United States. Officers and EMTs carry Narcan in Valley County and are prepared to use it.
Red Ribbon Week 2020
Red Ribbon Week starts October 23rd and is a community effort to promote a drug free youth. In 2020 the Valley CARE Coalition helped organize a scavenger hunt throughout Glasgow with checkpoints at different businesses and government entities. The winning student received a goody bag and was featured on our Facebook page!
In December 2020 the Valley CARE Coalition assisted in an initiative with the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center to encourage youth to #ChooseYou over drugs and alcohol. We received 14 papers from Valley County students speaking to why they choose themselves over drugs and alcohol. Students that participated were entered to win a Hydroflask water bottle or a pair of Beats by Dre!
